YRU
Coming Fall 2017
A search for treasure always begins with a question.
Who am I? Why am I?
These simple questions are some of the deepest you can ask as you journey through life. YRU? is a daily devotional with over one hundred readings for families and children to engage in lessons of Christian faith and discover the real treasure in our lives: that we are all cherished children of God, the “I AM THAT I AM.”
In this devotional, we’ll set sail on the Sea of Possibility in search of treasure and chart a course around our map to the Mysterious Island of Em. We’ll also be using facts about sailing, boats, ropes, knots, anchors, and more to help us learn about God, ourselves, the hazards and enemies that abound in our life’s voyage, His Promises, His Protection, and the importance of always relying on our Captain, Helmsman, and Pilot for safe guidance through the rough weather and waters of life.

Dear Hunter of Treasure:
Welcome to this family devotional. Life is full of choices but there is a sure path for each one of us.
This book is meant to help you find real treasure. As you do, you’ll also find the treasure that is YOU, the real you on the inside. This book is but the beginning of the great journey you will be taking.
Everyone wants and needs to know how special and wonderful they are. When you were a little baby, you smiled and made happy noises when cared for by loving hands. You were responding to love and kindness. As you grew from being a toddler to a young child, you wanted to have playtime and hugs from those who loved you as they taught you many things. From preteens and beyond, respect and acceptance to and from family, friends, and those you encounter throughout your life, are essential to the building of a person’s character.
Actually, this whole searching for treasure is like a mystery, for when you find special and hidden things, many other extraordinary and powerful wonders and insights are discovered and revealed. As you can see in the photo at the left, there are many different kinds of keys, but there is only one key that unlocks true treasure for you, and for the world.
But as with anything and everything, there are certain things that must be done first. So, we will need to begin at the very beginning — with God.
Each day, you’ll find one or more Bible verses to read called Verse of the Day. A challenge for you or the whole family would be to pick out one verse within a week to memorize. Older treasure hunters may wish to do more. You could make a graph and place a gold star on it when you succeed!
Here are two Bible verses for you to practice with. You may want to write them on 3 x 5 index cards to help you remember them.
Proverbs 11:14 “Where there is no guidance, the people fall, but in abundance of counselors there is victory.”
Proverbs 8:33 “Heed instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.”
You’ll also meet Captain Andy, who has been sailing the high seas for many a year. He has explored all the great oceans and walked the Mysterious Island of Em. He will be your guide for this special journey and will be sharing his knowledge about sailing and the Mysterious Island of Em, so enjoy as you learn.
May God’s gift of love be yours forever,
Ina Louise Jones
